Chapter 18: The Point of No Return
Marco didn’t wait for further invitation. His hands gripped her hips, lifting her slightly as he plunged into her with a force that stole her breath. Isabella gasped, her head snapping back against the wall, the floral wallpaper blurring in her vision. The impact was raw, primal, shattering the last vestiges of her resistance. She felt him everywhere, filling her completely, stretching her in ways that made her body ache and sing at the same time.
She cried out, a sound that was half-pleasure, half-pain, her voice breaking as her nails dug into his shoulders. He filled her completely, claiming her with a possessiveness that both terrified and thrilled her. Her body clenched around him, a desperate attempt to hold on, to control the chaos that threatened to consume her. She could feel the heat of him, the sweat-slicked skin, the tension in his muscles as he moved against her.
He began to move, his thrusts deep and relentless, each one driving her closer to the edge. She wrapped her legs around his waist, her body arching to meet his, clinging to him as if he were the only thing keeping her from falling into the abyss. Her breath came in short, ragged gasps, her heart pounding in her chest like a drum. The room around them seemed to dissolve, leaving only the two of them, the rhythm of their bodies, the heat of their connection.
“Marco,” she moaned, her voice barely audible above the pounding of her heart. He didn’t answer, just continued to move, his rhythm growing more frantic, more desperate. She felt his muscles straining beneath her fingers, the sweat slicking his skin, the intensity of his gaze as he looked at her. His breath was hot against her neck, his movements unrelenting, pushing her further, faster, harder.
She closed her eyes, surrendering to the sensation, letting go of the fear that had held her back for so long. The world narrowed to the feel of his body inside hers, the taste of his skin on her lips, the sound of his ragged breath in her ear. She could feel the tension building in her body, the pressure coiling tighter and tighter, threatening to explode.
He pulled back slightly, his eyes locking onto hers. “Isabella,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Look at me.” She opened her eyes, her gaze meeting his, and saw the raw desire in his eyes, the hunger, the need. And something else, something she couldn’t quite decipher. Vulnerability? Tenderness? It was gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by the familiar intensity.
He thrust into her again, harder this time, driving her further into the abyss. She cried out again, her body convulsing with pleasure, her nails digging deeper into his back. He leaned down, his mouth claiming hers, his tongue plunging inside, mimicking the rhythm of his hips. She tasted salt and sweat and something else, something wild and untamed, something that made her heart race even faster.
He broke the kiss, his breath coming in ragged gasps. “Tell me what you want,” he growled, his voice a demand. She hesitated, the words caught in her throat, her body trembling with the intensity of her need. He thrust into her again, harder, faster, pushing her closer to the edge.
"I want you," she gasped against his collarbone, the words cracking open something in her chest she'd kept sealed for years. Her fingernails carved half-moons into the sweat-slicked skin of his shoulders as her legs cinched tighter around his waist. The floral wallpaper behind them blurred as he angled deeper, hitting a place that made her vision whiten.
"Is that all?" Marco's voice was gravel, his breath scalding against her temple. One large hand slid from her hip up her ribcage, calloused thumbs brushing the undersides of her breasts in a slow, calculated tease. She felt the exact moment her nipples hardened under his palms, the sudden sensitivity making her jolt. "You want it all? Say it again."
Her back arched when he squeezed. "Marco, please—" The plea dissolved into a moan as his mouth closed over her left breast, tongue laving the stiff peak in rough, relentless circles. Every pull sent electric currents straight down to where their bodies joined, each suck a promise of ruin. She grabbed fistfuls of his hair, torn between pushing him away and holding him there forever.
When his teeth grazed the swollen flesh, the sharp pleasure-pain ripped a scream from her throat. He chuckled against her skin—the smug bastard—before soothing the sting with his tongue. "Look at you," he muttered, lips glistening in the lamplight. "Writhing on my dick like you'd die without it."
She was close, teetering on a knife's edge where every nerve ending screamed for release. His free hand skated down her belly, fingertips ghosting over the damp thatch of curls before slipping between them. The first brush of his thumb against her clit nearly shattered her.
"Please." She barely recognized her own voice.
"Please what? Use your words, Isabella." He punctuated the command with a punishing thrust that stole her breath.
"I want—hah—I want to come with you inside me." The admission burned her cheeks, but the instant reward—his growl, the way his hips stuttered—was worth the humiliation. "I want love..."
Her voice broke, the words spilling out before she could stop them. Marco stilled, his body going rigid. The air between them thickened, charged with something heavier than lust. She felt the weight of his gaze, the intensity of it burning into her. Her chest tightened, her heart hammering against her ribs as if trying to escape.
He pulled back slightly, his hands framing her face, his thumbs brushing the curve of her cheekbones. "Love?" he echoed, his voice rough, almost disbelieving. She couldn’t meet his eyes, her lashes fluttering as she stared at the hollow of his throat. His pulse raced there, a frantic rhythm that mirrored her own. "Is that what this is about, Isabella?" he pressed, his tone softer now, but no less probing.
She swallowed hard, her throat dry. "I don’t know," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I just... I want someone who sees me. Not as a mother, or a teacher, or... anything else. Just me." The admission felt like a wound reopening, raw and exposed. She hated how small her voice sounded, how vulnerable.
Marco’s hands tightened on her face, his thumbs stilling. "You think I don’t see you?" he asked, his voice low, almost dangerous. She flinched at the intensity in his tone, her body instinctively pressing closer to his. He leaned in, his breath hot against her ear. "I see you, Isabella. Every damn part of you."
He thrust into her again, slow and deliberate, his eyes never leaving hers. Her breath hitched, her body arching into his. "I see the way you bite your lip when you’re nervous," he murmured, his voice a low rumble. "The way your hands shake when you’re angry but trying to hold it in." Another thrust, deeper this time, and she gasped. "I see the way you light up when you talk about your kids, even when you’re pretending to be annoyed with them."
Her chest tightened, her heart aching with something she couldn’t name. "Marco," she breathed, her voice breaking. He didn’t stop, his rhythm steady, his words relentless. "I see the way you try to hide how much you care, like it’s a weakness. But it’s not, Isabella. It’s the strongest thing about you."
Her vision blurred, tears welling in her eyes. She tried to look away, but he caught her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. "I see you," he repeated, his voice softer now, almost tender. "And I’ve wanted you for so long, I don’t even know how to stop."
The tension in her body coiled tighter, her breath coming in shallow gasps. His hands moved to her hips, his grip firm as he drove into her again. "Let go, Isabella," he urged, his voice a husky whisper. "Just let go."
She cried out, her body convulsing as the wave of pleasure crashed over her. Her nails dug into his back, her legs tightening around him as she shattered. She felt him shudder too, his body tensing as he spilled himself inside her, his breath hot against her neck.
For a long moment, they lay there, their bodies intertwined, their breaths mingling in the heavy silence. Her heart still raced, her body trembling with the aftershocks. His weight was a comforting pressure, grounding her in the moment.
Finally, he lifted his head, his eyes searching hers. "I love you, Isabella," he whispered, the words soft but unyielding. She froze, her breath catching in her throat. "I think I have for a long time."
The world seemed to tilt, her mind struggling to process his words. Her chest tightened, her heart pounding so loudly she was sure he could hear it. "Marco," she whispered, her voice trembling. "What are you saying?"
He leaned down, his forehead resting against hers. "I’m saying I love you," he repeated, his voice steady now, certain. "And I’m not going to pretend I don’t anymore."
She stared up at him, her eyes wide with shock. Her mind raced, a whirlwind of emotions she couldn’t untangle. "This... this changes everything," she said, her voice barely audible.
He smirked, that familiar glint returning to his eyes. "Yeah," he agreed, his tone light, almost teasing. "But I think we’re ready for it."
She didn’t respond, her mind still reeling. He loved her. Marco loved her. The thought was both exhilarating and terrifying, a truth she wasn’t sure she was ready to face. But as he leaned down to kiss her again, slow and tender this time, she felt something shift inside her. Something that felt a lot like hope.
