Chapter 2: Building Tension

The next day, Robert found himself pacing restlessly in his childhood home. The silence of the room settled heavily around him, and he couldn't shake the raw intensity of his encounter with James. He had always prided himself on being in control, but with James, he was always left feeling deliciously unmoored.

But today, his thoughts kept drifting towards Tom. Seeing him at the gym with his wife had stirred a deep longing within Robert, and he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have Tom all to himself.

After 10 years away Robert returned home and discovered that Tom was an escort. he made a rash decision to hire his services, eventually bringing them to the path of reconciliation and mending their past-ruined childhood relationship that scared Robert's heart. They even had a short but intense romance after that ill-conceived night in a dingy hotel room, but ultimately decided that Robert wouldn't be the second best. He wanted Tom to be his lower, not a secret love affair hidden in the shadows. Even as he reached climax, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was missing something. Some part of him longed to be with Tom in the light of day, not tucked away in the dingy corners of the city.

Yearning for the familiarity and comfort that he craved, Robert reluctantly drifted back into the arms of his sadistic lover, James. Yearning for the rough touch and aggressive domination that had once excited him, yet left him craving more.

It had only been the darkness that contributed to his twisted fantasies, lodging in the back of his mind with each encounter, until all he could think about was the thought of Tom.

Everything came rushing back to him, the memories of their encounters in the shadows of the woods behind Robert's childhood home. Memories that had haunted him for years. And as much as he tried to bury them deep within himself, he knew he could never rid himself of the everything he carried inside of him.

As the days passed, Robert started to become obsessed with Tom.

He watched through the office of his gym as Tom worked out. Always on the hunt for his next john , Tom's movements were calculated and deliberate as he moved through the gym. Each lift of weight, each step on the treadmill, was a dance of sorts, a performance meant to entice and draw in potential clients.

Robert couldn't help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia as he watched Tom through the glass window. They had been friends for so long, and yet here they were, on opposite sides of the spectrum.

He wondered if Tom ever thought about their past, their history, the bond that had once held them together.

Sometimes at night, as Robert lay alone in his queen-sized bed, he could hear the faintest whispers of Tom's voice, calling his name, pulling him back to memories long buried. He wanted to reach out, to grab onto the echoes of the past and hold them close, but the pain was too intense, the memories too raw.

With a deep sigh, Robert shook his head, pushing the thoughts away. Last night had been a mistake, a reckless, fleeting moment that had left him with more questions than answers.

It has been 2 years since last they were intimate. Robert even tried to fake it until they could just be friends once again. Letting him use his gym and so on.

He told himself that it was all in the past, but that was a lie. He had never gotten over Tom. Watching him now, so confident and sure of himself, it only made Robert want him more.

As Tom left the gym, Robert found himself making a decision. He needed closure, and he needed it now.

Once again he decided against his better judgment to hire Tom for the night. He booked a meeting online.

The process was simple and transactional. He filled out a form stating his preferences and expectations, paying through a nondescript website before receiving a confirmation message containing all the details. Tom was to arrive at his childhood home at precisely 8 pm, where they would have the entire night to themselves.

Robot's hands shook as he closed his laptop, an inexplicable feeling of anxiety and excitement coiling in his stomach. He checked himself over in the mirror one final time before heading to his old room to prepare. Thoroughly cleaned inside and out he awaited Tomm to arrive.

Robert heard the distinct sound of his 1967 Ford Mustang's engine echoing through the quiet, suburban street. He felt like a horny teenager again, unable to contain his excitement and anticipation.

Robert's mind wandered back to their childhood days, thinking about all the unspoken feelings that lay just beneath the surface. He couldn't help but wonder: what if? What if they had been born in a different time, in a different world where their love for each other wasn't forbidden or seen as something to be ashamed of?

He shook his head, driving the thoughts out of his mind as he looked out the window and saw Tom's car pull up outside.

Robert watched as Tom got out of his car, his broad shoulders and fit physique on full display even in just a simple t-shirt and jeans. He had always been the athletic one, while Robert was more into bodybuilding and computers. But they had always bonded over their shared love for fitness and working out, and now it seemed like fate had brought them back together for the third time.

The doorbell rang, and Robert took a deep breath before opening the front door.

"Hey, man," Tom said casually, as if they were just meeting up for a drink instead of what was about to happen.

Robert's heart raced as he led Tom inside, closing the door behind them. The tension between them was palpable, and Robert felt his body react to Tom's nearness in a way he hadn't expected.

Their eyes met, locked in a gaze that spoke volumes without words. It was a gaze filled with desire, with pain, with longing.

"You paid for me to be here?" Tom asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Robert nodded, unable to speak. He led Tom up the creaking staircase, his heart pounding in his chest. Memories flooded back to him of their childhood, of the nights spent in the woods, of endless games of tag and hide-and-seek.

And in all of those memories, Tom had always been there, a constant presence in his life.

Robert's heart raced as they made their way to his bedroom. Time seemed to slow as they entered, the room bathed in soft moonlight streaming through the open window.

Tom consumed his gaze, his body lean and hard. Robert threw the covers back from the bed, holding out his hand.

"Come here," he commanded, his voice hoarse with desire.

Without hesitation, Tom moved towards him. They met halfway, their lips colliding in a searing kiss.

Clenching his fist, Robert tugged at Tom's shirt, his fingers already itching to bare his skin. He pressed their bodies close, the weight of his muscle already beginning to overpower Tom’s lithe frame.

"God, it's been forever," Robert murmured, a hint of desperation in his voice.

Tom responded with a low groan, a fire already igniting in his loins. He could feel himself growing hard beneath the confines of his slacks, his own desperation mirroring Robert's.

Tom's hands roamed freely across Robert's muscular back, and he couldn't resist squeezing Robert's ass firmly, the muscles rippling beneath his grip.

Robert let out a deep growl in response, pushing Tom down onto the bed with an intensity that drove all thoughts from his mind.

As they made love, Robert couldn't help but feel as if he was being pulled back into the past, as if he was reliving moments long buried and forgotten.

It was a feeling of nostalgia and longing, a longing that had never truly left him.

They explored each other's bodies with an intensity and passion that had been missing for so long. Tom's fingers traced the lines of Robert's muscles, the hard, defined form of his body sending shivers down Tom's spine. Robert, in turn, reveled in the sensation of Tom's lean form writhing beneath him, helpless with desire.

But as they lay together afterward, Robert couldn't shake the feeling that something was still missing.

Tom was essentially here because he would get 300 for his time.

It paid well and allowed him to fulfill pleasures that his wife wouldn't allow otherwise. He had come to terms with his past feelings for Robert and had managed to become somewhat strained friends over the last couple years since Robert returned home. That devastating romance they had before he promised him he would leave his wife, which he never did. But despite it all, Robert allowed him back in reserved and strained. This was to him like another slap to the face. Robert was his love, but life tore them apart.

And here they were now, tangled up in each other's arms again, but not in the way Robert desired. Tom was merely an escort for the night, but Robert couldn't help but feel like it was more than that.

The physical connection between them was intense and electrifying, but the emotional turmoil was far from over. Robert found himself lost in thought, questioning what could have been if they had just taken the leap years ago. He wondered if Tom felt the same way or if he had moved on completely.

"Why did you actually come here tonight, since you obviously knew who hired you?" Robert asked trying to sound composed and nonconfrontational , though his restless nature was beginning to show through.

Tom swallowed, his again calm exterior giving no sign of the turmoil inside him. "I've told you before, Robert, I do this for the client's satisfaction and my own financial gain."

There was a pause, the room seeming to close in around them, the only sound was the faint hum of the air conditioner whirring in the background.

Robert broke the silence, his voice dropping to a growl. "That's why you do it for any of them?

It's just a business transaction for you?" Robert asked, his voice strained with emotion.

Tom hesitated, his eyes darting away from Robert's intense gaze. "It's not that simple, Robert. I do have feelings for you, but I can't just abandon my life and my wife for a fantasy. I can't give you what you want."

The air was thick with tension as they stared each other down, the weight of their past pressing down between them.

"Did you ever love me, then?" Robert asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

His heart clenched at the thought of rejection, but he knew he had to ask.

Tom hesitated before answering, his deep brown eyes searching for the right words. "Yes, I did in the past," he admitted, "But our lives have taken different paths, and I can't just turn back the clock. I'm sorry, Robert."

Robert felt a surge of pain wash over him at Tom's words, the disappointment and frustration of unrequited love gnawing at his heart.

He turned away, not wanting Tom to see the wounded look in his eyes.

"I understand," Robert said softly, masking the hurt in his voice with a layer of calm neutrality. "We both have our own lives now."

Tom looked at him, regret reflecting in his gaze. "Yes," he agreed, "But I still care for you, Robert. I always have. Just not in the way you want me to."

Robert gave a curt nod, acknowledging his words.

He couldn't deny the truth in them, even if it was a bitter pill to swallow. He turned back towards Tom, his eyes finally meeting his gaze head-on, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"I'm glad we had this chance to talk, even if our paths have diverged," Robert said. "I want you to know that I value our friendship, Tom. I'm just sorry for how things turned out between us."

Tom nodded solemnly, a hint of sadness lingering in his eyes. "I know, Robert.

Our past is complicated, and I carry a lot of regrets," Tom said quietly. He ran a hand through his dark hair, leaving it disheveled. "But I have a life now, and I can't let go of everything that came before."

Robert let out a low whistle, shaking his head. He walked over to the antique dresser and pulled open a drawer, fishing out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He Lit up, taking a long drag, and sighed as he exhaled a cloud of smoke.

“I get it, Tom. I really do. But that doesn’t make this any easier.”

Tom watched him, sadness creeping into his gaze. “I know, Robert. I wish things could have been different. I truly do. But I can’t change my life now.”

“I know.” Robert replied, extinguishing the cigarette in a nearby ashtray.

They stood there in silence, the tension between them heavy and unyielding.

Tom's eyes were filled with regret, while Robert's were clouded with disappointment.

"I should go," Tom said finally, breaking the silence.

Robert nodded, not trusting himself to speak. He followed Tom to the door, watching as he disappeared into the night. He closed the door behind him with a soft click, leaning against it for support.

This time however Tom didn't take the money prepared for him.

The house felt empty and cold without Tom's presence. Robert couldn't shake the feeling of desolation that had settled over him.

He had hoped that hiring Tom as an escort would bring him closure, but it had only served to open up a fresh wave of memories and longing.

Tom had been his first love, his confidant, and his best friend. They had spent countless hours together growing up, but Robert's unrequited love for Tom had driven a wedge between them. Robert had left for college and the army, hoping to put the past behind him. But fate had other plans.

Now back in his childhood home, Robert couldn't escape the memories of the past.

Returning after so many years had only stirred up the emotions he had tried so hard to forget. His heart still ached for the love he knew he could never have.

As Robert ventured out into the world of hookups and casual encounters, he found a new form of solace in the arms of other men. It wasn't the same as the love he felt for Tom, but it was something to distract him from the pain. He frequented the local bars, always on the lookout for someone to take home with him.
