Chapter 3: Theme Stated

Pam Beesly, the wholesome receptionist of Dunder Mifflin, could hardly contain her laughter hearing Kelly's plan for vengeance. She leaned against the water cooler with her generous bosoms filling the air with an awkward sense of importance.

"Pam, are you even listening to me?" Kelly cried, aggrieved.

Pam quickly collected herself and stared wide-eyed at Kelly. "Oh, I'm sorry.

What were you saying, Kelly?" Pam asked with mock innocence.

" Oh, I'm sorry. What were you saying, Kelly? " Pam asked, feigning ignorance.

"I was telling you about my plan to gain weight," Kelly said, emphasizing each word as if reciting a declaration of war. "I'm going to eat as much as I can, just to get back at Ryan."

Pam's eyes widened in shock, but her lips twitched in amusement. "Kelly, that's... um, ambitious. And, you know, potentially unhealthy."

"I'm not worried about my health," Kelly replied, her voice steady and defiant. "I'm just fed up with people making fun of me because of my butt.

I want to take control of the situation and show them that I don't care about their opinions."

Pam nodded, trying to understand Kelly's perspective. "But Kelly, won't gaining more weight only bring more attention to your butt? I mean, isn't that what you're trying to avoid?"

Kelly shrugged, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Maybe. But it's my butt, and I love it. I want to embrace it and make it even bigger and better. It's my way of saying 'Screw you' to all the haters out there."

Jim Halpert walked up to the water cooler, overhearing the conversation. "Well, Kelly, if anyone can pull off a statement like that, it's definitely you."

Kelly beamed, grateful for Jim's support. "Thanks, Jim.

I appreciate your encouragement," Kelly replied, smiling ear to ear.

Jim returned her grin, a twinkle in his azure eyes. "Of course, Kelly. I'll always have your back. And besides, who needs a six-pack when you can have a six-tier cake?"

They exchanged knowing looks as Kelly let out a deep, rumbling laugh, while Jim covered his mouth in a vain attempt to hide his own amusement. Their camaraderie was not lost on Pam, who shook her head in mock despair.

"Jim...you two are something else."

Kelly's laughter still echoing in her ears, Pam swiveled her chair back towards her desk, a small grin playing on her lips. She was not one to involve herself in drama, but she understood Kelly's desire for self-expression and vindication. She decided then and there that she would support her friend in her journey.

Moments later, Pam heard Darryl Philbin, the black warehouse manager at Dunder Mifflin, call out to her.

"What's going on, Darryl?" she asked.

"Kelly told me 'bout her plan to get back at Ryan," Darryl chuckled. "You think she's really gonna do it?"

Pam raised her shoulder in a half-shrug, still smiling from the recent interaction with Jim. "You know Kelly, when she gets an idea in her head, there's no stopping her."

Darryl let out a big laugh.

"Thass a hell of a plan, Kelly. Dat boy Ryan better watch his back!"

Pam agreed. "Yes, he does. So, how do you plan on going about this eating spree, Miss Kapour?"

Kelly grinned wolfishly, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I'm gonna start small - weddings, bar mitzvahs, cookouts. I got friends left and right who throw parties and events, and I know the key to their hearts is through their stomachs. I'll stuff myself silly with all the food I can get my hands on.

And if anyone gets in my way, they'll wish they hadn't."

Pam shook her head in disbelief. "You really think that's going to solve anything?"

Kelly puffed out her chest. "Of course! Once Ryan sees that I haven't let his petty insults get to me, he'll regret ever making fun of me.

I'll be like a force of nature, unstoppable. And maybe, just maybe, I'll finally be happy with myself."

Kelly winked and gave a satisfied nod. "And besides, I've always found that the more unhappy people are with themselves, the meaner they become. So, let them laugh all they want. The bigger my butt gets, the happier I'll be, and the worse they'll feel about themselves. It's a win-win situation."

Darryl chuckled again, nodding in agreement.

"I see your point, Kelly. And I gotta admit, that's one hell of a revenge plan."

He paused for a moment, then said with a sly grin, "And if anyone gives you a hard time, you just let 'em know that Darryl's got your back. Ain't nobody gonna mess with the Kapoor-Philbin alliance!"

His statement made Pam laugh, but Kelly looked genuinely touched. "Thanks, Darryl.

I appreciate your support. I couldn't ask for a better ally here at Dunder Mifflin." Kelly said, feeling her heart warm at Darryl's kind words.

Turning her focus back to her plan, Kelly considered her next steps. As she'd expected, the bell suspending above the break room chimed, signaling lunchtime. The office workers shuffled through the doors, eager to escape the sterile fluorescent glow and noise of the office for a few minutes. The break room buzzed with chatter as employees exchanged stories and joked around.

Kelly mayoraged to a table lined with various dishes, her eyes scanning the food laid out before her.

"First up, I've got a couple of chocolate cake slices with buttercream frosting from the local bakery," she announced as she daintily placed slices on her plate.

"Who brings a whole chocolate cake to work as a snack?" Pam teased, her generously proportioned breasts bouncing as she moved toward the table.

"Guilty as charged," Kelly replied as she waggled her eyebrows.

Pam eyed the cake slices hungrily, then looked at Kelly. "I thought you were watching your weight?"

"Oh, I am," Kelly said nonchalantly. "These little guys are just for show." She lifted the cake slices to her mouth, and with great pleasure, sunk her teeth into the moist chocolatey goodness. Pam watched in shock as Kelly proceeded to devour both slices in record time.

Kelly licked her fingers clean, leaving no trace of the delectable dessert in sight.

Pam finally found her voice. "I'm afraid you might have indulged a bit more than necessary," she commented, her eyes twinkling with amazement.

Kelly grinned, dusted off her hands, and stood up. "A wise person once said, 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.' I am itching to show Ryan the error of his ways.

I've been planning this for months,' Kelly muttered, shoving another slice of pie into her mouth, mustard seeds scattering everywhere. 'This tastes amazing!'

She could hear her co-workers talking around her, but their voices seemed distant, lost in the cloud of delicious flavor that enveloped her senses.

"Hey, Kelly, what's up?" a familiar voice called out.

She turned to see Jim Halpert, her former colleague and occasional rival, standing infront of her.

He tilted his head to the side, giving her a curious look. "Are you okay, Kelly? You seem a little... off."

She purposely avoided answering his question, instead reaching for another slice of Detroit-style pizza, thick and greasy, with gooey mozzarella and tangy tomato sauce. "Oh, I'm great, Jim," she responded, her mouth full of food.

Jim raised an eyebrow, but chose not to push the issue further. Instead, he sat down across from her and grabbed a slice of his own.

Their eyes met briefly, just long enough for Kelly to catch a fleeting glimpse of the concern in his ice blue eyes.

Kelly went back to her food, slurping a massive spoonful of gazpacho before answering, "I've just got a lot on my mind, you know?"

Jim nodded sympathetically, his curiosity piqued. "Want to talk about it?"

Kelly hesitated, taking another bite of the pizza to buy herself some thinking time.

But before she could answer, Darryl, the warehouse manager, walked up with a small bowl of chili.

"

Hey there, Darryl," Kelly greeted as he sat down next to Jim.

Darryl grumbled a hello before shoveling in a spoonful of chili.

Pam walked up to the break room table and noticed the somber mood.

"

Is everything alright?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

She scanned the forgiving silence of the break room, her gaze landing on Kelly's retreating figure. For a moment, Pam felt a pang of grief, a mixture of sadness and empathy swelling within her chest. She knew what it felt like to be judged and disparaged, to feel unworthy and small. But when she saw the determined expression on Kelly's face, she knew the battle for self-acceptance was just beginning.

Over the next few days, Kelly's unconventional plan began to unfold.

Word quickly spread throughout the office about her newfound mission, and while some employees were puzzled, others offered their support and encouragement.

Pam, Kelly's longtime friend, was the first to reach out with an invitation to a family barbecue. "Kelly, my parents are throwing a party this weekend, and I know they'd love to see you," she said, her voice light and casual.

"Plus, it'll be a great opportunity for you to indulge in some good food."

Kelly's face lit up upon hearing the invitation. "Pam, thank you so much! I would love to join you and your family. I promise I'll be on my best behavior," she replied, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"No need to change yourself for anyone, Kelly," Pam reassured her as she leaned in for a hug.

Kelly felt her eyes fill with gratitude, embracing her friend tightly and whispering a quiet "thank you" into Pam's ear.
