Chapter 6: The Serpent's Awakening
He woke to the sound of rain against the glass and the smell of jasmine, cloying and sweet, coating the back of his throat like syrup. The sheets were tangled around his legs, damp with sweat, and his head pounded with a dull, rhythmic ache that wasn't quite pain and wasn't quite pleasure.
Logan tried to sit up. His arms buckled.
The venom was still in him, thicker now, heavier. He could feel it moving through his bloodstream like oil, sluggish and cold, coating his veins in a film that made his healing factor stutter and cough. He tried to summon his claws. The adamantium grated in his knuckles, but the blades only emerged halfway before his muscles seized and the pain drove them back.
"Easy there, puppy."
Viper's voice came from somewhere to his left. He turned his head, slow, viscous, and found her leaning against the doorframe. She wore nothing but a sheer black robe that clung to her curves like a second skin, and in her hand she held a syringe, the glass barrel full of a pale green liquid that caught the dim light and glowed like a caught firefly.
"What the hell is that?" His voice came out rough, scraped raw.
She pushed off the doorframe and padded toward him, barefoot, her hips swaying with each step. "A promise," she said. "Or a threat, depending on how you play it."
She sat on the edge of the bed and trailed the syringe across his chest, leaving a thin line of cold glass in its wake. Logan flinched, but couldn't move away.
"The poison in your veins," she said, tapping the syringe with a manicured nail, "is a slow one. Designed specifically to work around your healing factor. Lingering, patient, and very, very effective." She smiled. "In about a week, it will shut down your cardiovascular system entirely. You won't heal fast enough. You'll just drift off to sleep and never wake up."
Logan stared at her. His jaw worked, but no words came.
"Unless, of course," she continued, "you submit to me completely."
"Submit," he repeated the word like it was poison itself.
"Mmm." She set the syringe down on the nightstand and crawled onto the bed, straddling his thighs. The robe fell open, baring her breasts, the dark rose of her nipples drawing his gaze despite himself. Her skin was cool to the touch, smooth, and where the scales shimmered across her hip, they caught the light like scattered emeralds.
"Is that so hard to imagine, Logan? Living your life at my side? Doing my bidding?" She leaned down, and her hair brushed his chest. "You'd have everything you want. Power. Pleasure. Me."
"I'd have to be a fool to trust you."
"Maybe." She ground her hips against his, and he felt himself stir despite the venom, despite the rage, despite every fiber of his being screaming at him to fight. "But you're already a fool. You came back here, didn't you? You walked right into my trap. Twice."
Her hand slid down his stomach, fingers tracing the line of hair that led below his navel. He was hard now, achingly so, and she hummed with satisfaction as she wrapped her fingers around him.
"You say you hate me," she whispered, stroking him slow, "but your body tells a different story."
Logan's breath hitched. He tried to push her away, but his arms were lead, and she only laughed softly.
"That's it. Don't fight it. It's easier if you don't fight."
She lifted herself, positioned her cunt at his tip, and sank down. The sensation was electric, her heat enveloping him, her walls slick and tight as she took him inch by inch. He groaned, his head falling back against the pillow.
"God, you feel good," she breathed. "So thick, so hard. You were made for this, weren't you, Logan? Made to fill me up."
She began to ride him—slow, deep, torturous. Her hips rolled in languid circles, grinding him against her clit with every stroke. Her hands braced on his chest, her nails raking his skin, leaving raw red lines that healed and healed and never quite caught up.
"I'm going to make you beg," she said, her voice low and honeyed. "Beg for the antidote. Beg for my touch. Beg for me to let you come."
"Fuck you," Logan snarled, but the words came out weak, breathy.
"Already doing that, darling."
She leaned down and kissed him, her forked tongue sliding between his lips, coating his tongue with a fresh burst of venom. The effect was immediate—his vision swam, his thoughts scattered like leaves in a windstorm, and he felt himself harden further inside her, impossibly, achingly.
She laughed against his mouth. "That's it. That's my good puppy."
She sat up and rode him harder, her breasts bouncing with each impact. Her cunt was a furnace, gripping him, milking him, and he was losing his mind, every nerve ending on fire, every thought reduced to the singular need to come inside her.
"Please," he heard himself say, the word torn from somewhere deep.
"Please what?"
"Please... let me..."
"Let you what?" She slowed, just barely, her hips teasing him with an almost-perfect rhythm that drove him insane.
"Let me come," he gritted out, the words thick with shame.
She smiled, a predator's smile, and picked up the pace. "There's my puppy. So obedient." She leaned down again, her lips brushing his ear. "Come for me. Fill me up. Show me you're mine."
Logan roared as he came, his release surging into her in hot, pulsing waves. She rode him through it, her own hips grinding against him, her inner walls clenching like a fist around his cock until he was empty, spent, trembling.
But she didn't stop.
She kept riding him, slow and deliberate, wringing every last drop of pleasure from his oversensitive flesh. He groaned, trying to push her off, but she only smiled.
"Oh, we're not done yet, puppy."
She slid off him with a wet, obscene sound, and before he could react, she picked up the syringe from the nightstand and plunged it into his neck.
The liquid hit his bloodstream like fire. He arched off the bed, a scream torn from his throat, his vision going white, then black, then white again. His heart hammered in his chest, and every vein in his body seemed to alight with a cold, burning light.
When he could see again, Viper was straddling his chest, stroking his cheek with a gentle hand.
"There, there," she murmured. "It only hurts for a moment."
"What... did you do..."
She held up the empty syringe. "New formula. Stronger. It'll keep you docile, pliant, and very, very suggestible." She smiled down at him. "You'll do whatever I say, Logan. Whatever I ask. Because if you don't..." She tapped his nose. "That week I mentioned? It becomes six days."
Logan's body trembled, a mix of rage and desire and despair. He tried to summon his claws, to fight, but his arms wouldn't move, and his cock was stirring again despite everything.
"Shh," Viper said, leaning down to kiss his forehead. "It's okay to surrender. It's okay to let go."
He stared at her, his eyes burning. "You said... a week."
"I lied." She climbed off him and stood, letting her robe fall to the floor. She was gorgeous—impossibly, inhumanly gorgeous—and his body betrayed him, hardening at the sight of her bare skin.
"Six days," she repeated. "And in six days, you'll either be mine... or you'll be dead." She turned and walked toward the bathroom, pausing at the door to look back. "I'd suggest you figure out which one you want, puppy. I'll be in the shower."
She disappeared through the door, and Logan was left alone, naked and aching, rage and desire warring in his chest as the new venom spread through his veins, warm and insidious, whispering promises of submission and surrender.
He closed his eyes.
He didn't know how long he lay there, but when he opened them again, the rain had stopped, and Viper was standing over him, a towel wrapped around her hair and a wicked smile on her lips.
"Did you miss me?"
