Chapter 20: Thanksgiving Humiliation
The stale silence of the dorm pressed in, thick with the lingering scent of his own shame. Josh lay rigid on the narrow bed, arms still wrapped protectively around the unfamiliar swell beneath his stained t-shirt. Seraphina’s satisfied whisper – Overflow – echoed in the hollow space where his thoughts should be. He squeezed his eyes tighter, trying to banish the recent, visceral memory: the screen’s glow, his own desperate touch, the shocking warmth spreading over sensitive new flesh. The revulsion was immediate, acidic. But beneath it, a treacherous ember glowed, feeding on the echo of forbidden pleasure.
Then, without warning, the cramped dorm dissolved.
A wave of heat washed over him, replacing the stale air with the dense, comforting aroma of roasting turkey, sage stuffing, and something sweeter… vanilla. Cookies. The scent punched him in the gut, dragging him down, down into a different kind of heat. The glare of fluorescent lights replaced the dim laptop glow. Laughter, loud and overlapping, filled his ears – a raucous, familial din that suddenly felt menacing.
He was small. Terrifyingly small. Standing in the brightly lit kitchen of home. His childhood home. Linoleum cool under bare feet. The air vibrated with the clatter of dishes and Uncle Hank’s booming voice from the living room. But the center of his universe was his father. Dad leaned against the counter, a half-empty bottle of amber liquid dangling loosely from his fingers. His eyes, usually warm, were unfocused, swimming with drink and a cruel kind of amusement.
"Found 'em!" Dad slurred, his voice too loud, too close. He held up two limp, beige nylon stockings, stuffed lumpily, grotesquely full. Rice grains shifted inside like dry insects. In his other hand, dangling by a strap, was Mom’s bra. Huge. White lace over thick, structured cups. Size DDD. Josh remembered her complaining it was too small now. Its very size felt like an accusation.
"C'mere, sport," Dad beckoned, the false cheer brittle. Josh’s eight-year-old legs wouldn’t move. Fear, cold and slick, coated his insides. "Don't be shy now. Gotta show the family how we make a real lady in this house!"
Rough hands grabbed his thin shoulders, spinning him around. Dad’s breath, hot and reeking of whiskey, washed over his neck. The stiff lace scraped against his bare chest as the bra was clumsily yanked over his head. It hung loose, the cups gaping caverns over his flat, childish chest.
"Gotta fill 'er up, Joshy-boy," Dad chuckled, the sound grating. He shoved one of the stockings, heavy and awkward, into the left cup. The cold, shifting weight of the rice settled against his skin with unnatural pressure. Then the other stocking, bulging obscenely. Dad fumbled with the clasp at his back, fingers thick and clumsy. The elastic bit into Josh’s ribs as it finally hooked. The sudden, impossible weight pulled him forward slightly. He staggered.
"Lookit that!" Dad roared, turning Josh back around to face him. His eyes roamed over the stuffed cups, the lace straining against the bulging nylons. A twisted grin split his face. "My little sissy boy! Pretty as a picture!" He gave Josh’s padded chest a rough, jiggling squeeze. The rice shifted, grinding against his sensitive skin. Shame burned through him, a blush scalding his cheeks and ears, but beneath the fear and humiliation… a tiny, unwelcome spark flared at the pressure. A confusing heat low in his belly.
Dad steered him, stumbling under the unfamiliar weight, towards the living room. "Got a surprise, everyone! Look what Joshy found!"
The laughter died abruptly. A dozen pairs of eyes – Aunt Carol, Uncle Hank, Grandma, cousins he barely knew – turned towards him. Silence stretched, thick and awful. Then, a snicker from his older cousin, Derek. Aunt Carol’s hand flew to her mouth, her eyes wide. Grandma just stared, her expression unreadable.
"Look at those knockers!" Uncle Hank boomed, his face flushed with drink and sudden, leering interest. He lurched up from the armchair. "Kid’s a natural! Let’s see how they feel!" His large, calloused hand reached out, not towards Josh’s shoulder, but straight for the stuffed left cup. He grabbed it, kneading the lumpy nylon and rice roughly. "Firm! Needs more filling, though!" Hank laughed, squeezing harder. The pressure was immense, uncomfortable, yet the tiny spark flared brighter, conflicting violently with the tears pricking Josh’s eyes.
"Aww, let me!" Aunt Carol tittered, her earlier shock replaced by a giddy, performative cruelty. She pinched the right "breast," her fingers digging in. "Such soft lace on such a… delicate frame." Her tone dripped with false sweetness. Derek just pointed and laughed.
"Go on, Josette," Dad’s voice was a whiskey-soaked whisper right in his ear, using that name like a weapon. "Show ‘em how you jiggle!" He gave Josh a hard push between the shoulder blades. Josh stumbled forward into the center of the room, the heavy, lumpy weights swaying and bouncing with the movement. Hands reached out from the couch, from chairs – not all, but enough. Pinches, prods, rough pats. Every touch sent shockwaves of humiliation through him, every squeeze made the rice shift and grind, and every single one fed that treacherous, confusing little flame of sensation in his core. He was a grotesque doll, paraded and prodded. His body burned. Shame warred with a terrifying, secret thrill at the attention focused entirely on the false burden on his chest.
"Quite the handful already!" Uncle Hank guffawed, giving another rough squeeze.
"Just like his mother!" Aunt Carol added, her voice shrill.
"Stop," Josh whispered, the word lost in the noise. Tears streamed freely now, hot tracks down his cold face. But his body, traitorously, felt alive under the groping hands, hyper-aware of the weight, the pressure, the presence.
The memory shattered like dropped glass.
Josh gasped, bolting upright on his dorm bed. Sweat plastered his thin t-shirt to his skin. His real skin. His chest, no longer stuffed with rice, but undeniably altered – fuller, tender, the nipples peaked hard against the damp cotton. The phantom sensation of shifting grains and rough lace clung to him, layered over the deep, pulsing ache that had become his new normal. The scent of vanilla cookies and whiskey faded, replaced by stale pizza and fear.
He brought trembling hands up, not to wipe his tears, but to cup the swell beneath his shirt. His real swell. He pressed down, mimicking the pressure of Uncle Hank’s grip. A whimper escaped him – part anguish, part something else entirely. The deep ache flared, a throb that resonated in his groin. The confusion was a physical pain.
See, Josette? Seraphina’s voice was velvet smoke, curling through the panic. The need was always there. The memory is proof. The shame… the secret fire… the hands wanting to touch. It’s who you are. It’s who you were meant to be.
Josh’s fingers tightened on his own flesh, kneading the soft, giving tissue that hadn’t existed weeks ago. The echo of the Thanksgiving groping merged with the persistent thrum of growth. The revulsion was still there, a cold knot in his stomach. But beneath it, beneath the tears, the treacherous warmth from the fabricated memory – the heat of being the center of attention, the illicit thrill of the weight – pulsed stronger. It mingled with the lingering echo of his climax on his own changing body. His breath hitched. The line between horror and desire blurred until it vanished. His thumb brushed a stiff, sensitive nipple through the cotton.
A ragged sob tore from his throat, even as his hips shifted restlessly against the mattress. The phantom rice shifted. The ache deepened. The whisper promised more. Overflow.
