Chapter 4: The Unconscious Descent
The library’s silence pressed in, thick and dusty, punctuated only by the rhythmic thump-thump-thump of Josh’s own frantic pulse in his ears. He stared at the screen, the harsh blue light carving hollows under his eyes. His cursor hovered over an abstract about mammary gland hyperplasia – dry, clinical language about ductal branching and stromal proliferation. Just research. For Professor Henley’s comparative physiology paper. That’s all.
He shifted in the hard plastic chair, the worn fabric of his hoodie scraping against his skin. The ache was a constant presence now, a deep, warm thrum beneath his ribs. He’d worn the hoodie religiously since… since that night. The thick cotton was a shield, a desperate attempt to smother the undeniable changes happening beneath it. He leaned forward, elbows on the cold laminate desk, trying to focus on the dense text. Lobuloalveolar development precedes secretory differentiation…
His right hand, resting near the mouse, drifted upwards almost imperceptibly. Through the bulky hoodie fabric, his fingers found the familiar swell. It wasn't imagination anymore. They were there. Buds, the doctors called them in the articles. Fat pads. Milk ducts beginning their impossible sprout. He traced the curve unconsciously. The pressure sent a familiar, complex shiver through him – the deep internal ache, the sharp sensitivity at the tip, and that terrifying, seductive wave of warmth spreading outwards, a feeling perilously close to… rightness.
He squeezed gently. Just to… feel the density. Test the reality. The warmth intensified, pooling low in his belly. A soft sigh escaped his lips, lost in the library’s quiet. He closed his eyes for a second, the clinical jargon dissolving into Seraphina’s velvet voice, whispering from the depths of his scrambled memory: Feel them swell… heavy… so heavy… yours to adore…
His eyes snapped open, guilt sluicing through him like ice water. He jerked his hand away, clenching it into a fist on the desk. Focus, damn it. Just research.
He reached for the mouse, intending to close the dense medical journal tab. His knuckles brushed the touchpad. The browser flickered, minimizing the academic article and revealing the window behind it.
Josh froze.
Not one window. Several. Stacked like guilty secrets.
The top one glowed with the familiar, garish purple and silver interface of Seraphina’s Sanctum. His username – J0sh_Wond3r – blazed in the corner, logged in. Active.
His breath hitched, the sound unnaturally loud in the silent cubicle. Below the Sanctum window, another tab displayed a bra size calculator. Another showed a forum thread titled "First Buds: Sensations & Tips?" And another… another was open to his own profile page on the Sanctum.
His own post history glared back at him.

> The ache is constant now, deep inside. Like something unspooling. Feels amazing and terrifying. Keep catching myself touching them through my hoodie. Can’t stop. When I press, it’s like this… warmth spreads everywhere. Is this the growth pulse Seraphina talks about? They feel heavier already. Is that possible so fast?

> Wore a tighter shirt under the hoodie by accident today. Felt every movement. Every brush against fabric is… intense. Almost too much. But I liked it? Kept finding excuses to go up stairs, just to feel them bounce a little. Is that weird? Dreamt about filling out a C cup. It felt… real.
His blood turned to sludge in his veins. Ice crawled up his spine. He didn’t write these. He couldn’t have. He remembered researching, yes. Hiding the ache. The fear. The shame in the bathroom mirror that morning, seeing the slight, undeniable rounding under his thin sleep shirt before hastily covering it. But posting? On that forum? Talking about it like… like it was exciting? Like he wanted it?
He stared at the words. His username. The timestamps. Logged in. Right now.
Did I sleepwalk? The thought was ludicrous, desperate. Did the hypnosis… make me do it while I was awake? The humming, that low, resonant frequency he associated with the track, seemed to swell faintly in the base of his skull, a dark counterpoint to his panic.
He scrolled frantically down his profile page. More posts. Detailed descriptions of sensations. Questions about supportive wear for "early bloomers." A comment on a thread about nipple sensitivity that made his face burn with a heat that had nothing to do with embarrassment. He didn’t recognize the words, but the feelings they described… the deep ache, the warmth, the involuntary responses… they were his. Horrifyingly his.
His left hand, seemingly with a mind of its own, slid back up his torso. Not tentatively this time. Possessively. Palming the swell through the hoodie, fingers splaying to cover as much of the burgeoning mound as possible. The pressure was immediate, intense. The ache deepened into a resonant throb that vibrated down to his core. That wave of profound, anchoring warmth surged, stronger than before, momentarily drowning the panic in a haze of physical sensation. A small, choked moan escaped him before he could bite it back.
Heavier every day, his own posted words echoed in his mind. He pressed harder. Yes. There was weight. Substance. He could feel it. His own body, rewriting itself. His own mind, betraying him, documenting the process with a detached, eager fascination he didn't possess.
He needed to log out. Delete everything. Purge the account. A frantic energy seized him. He fumbled for the mouse, his fingers clumsy. He clicked the profile icon, hunting for the logout button. The browser stuttered. The Sanctum page refreshed.
A private message notification blinked at the bottom corner of the screen. New Message from: Seraphina_Prime.
His heart stopped.
The cursor hovered over the notification, trembling. His right hand clenched on the mouse. His left remained firmly cupped over his chest, the pressure now a constant, demanding presence, syncing with the hum in his skull and the frantic rhythm of his heart. He could feel the fabric of his t-shirt beneath the hoodie growing damp. Sweat? Or something else? The memory of damp lace, the phantom scent of lavender, flooded back.
He looked down at his left hand, molded possessively to the shape beneath his hoodie. He knew, with a sickening certainty that felt like falling, that he wasn’t going to click ‘logout’. Not yet. The ache pulsed, warm and insistent, an anchor in his dissolving reality. His thumb moved, almost imperceptibly, rubbing a small circle over the place where his nipple strained against layers of fabric.
His gaze, wide with dawning horror and a terrifying, magnetic compulsion, lifted back to the screen. Back to the blinking notification from Seraphina. The humming surged, filling the silent cubicle, resonating deep within the newly forming tissue beneath his hand. It felt like an answer. Like a summons.
His finger, slick with sweat, touched the touchpad. He clicked the message.
