Chapter 10: First Day in Wolfpack Team Part 1

The first light of dawn filtered through the small window of Captain James' partition, casting a soft glow over the room. Lyra stirred awake, her body still heavy with sleep but her mind already racing with the day's tasks. She glanced at the clock on the wall, her heart pounding slightly as she realized it was already 0500 hours. She had to fetch their breakfast rations from the base's cafetaria.

She swung her legs out of bed, her feet hitting the cold floor with a soft thud. She stood up, her body aching slightly from the previous day's activities. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the day ahead.

She was still wearing her makeshift crop top and combat shorts from the night before, her body bare beneath them. She could feel the cool air against her skin, making her nipples harden beneath the thin fabric of her crop top.

She glanced down at herself, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she realized she couldn't walk around the base like this. She quickly grabbed her combat boots from the floor and slipped them on, the heavy leather providing a small sense of security. Her eyes then landed on a folded sheet on the drawer, meant for bedding equipment. An idea struck her, and she snatched it up, wrapping it around her body like a makeshift robe. It was far from perfect, but it would have to do.

Lyra wrapped the sheet around herself, tucking it in at the side, and tying it securely at the waist. "At least this way, I won't be parading around half-naked," she muttered to herself, a small smile playing on her lips at the absurdity of the situation.

She took a deep breath and stepped out of Captain James' partition, the makeshift robe swirling around her as she walked towards the base's cafetaria.

The sun was just beginning to rise, casting long shadows across the base as she made her way through the maze of barracks that belonged to the other teams. She could see soldiers from different squads already awake and roaming around, their eyes lingering on her makeshift attire as she passed by. She could feel their gazes, could hear their whispers, but she kept her head held high, her steps steady and sure. She was Lyra Ashen, the recon of the Wolfpack, and she wouldn't let their stares intimidate her.

As she approached the cafetaria, she could see a group of soldiers from another squad huddled outside, their eyes fixed on her as she approached. She could feel their gazes, could hear their catcalls and whistles, but she ignored them, her focus solely on the task at hand.

As she arrived inside the cafetaria, she went straight to the counter, her eyes scanning the menu board above.

"Good morning," she said to the soldier behind the counter, her voice steady and confident. "I'm here to pick up breakfast rations for Lyra Ashen and Captain James."

The soldier, a burly man with a thick mustache, looked her up and down, his eyes lingering on her makeshift robe. "You're new here, aren't you?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips.

Lyra nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly under his scrutiny. "Yes, I just joined the Wolfpack team." Lyra's response was firm and confident, her eyes meeting the soldier's gaze without flinching. The soldier's eyebrows shot up in surprise, his smirk fading as he realized he was dealing with someone far more formidable than he had initially thought.

"Well, well," he said, his voice taking on a newfound respect. "You're one of Captain James' men, huh? I didn't know he had a new recruit." He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as he took in her makeshift attire. "And what's with the... sheet?" he asked, his voice laced with curiosity.

Lyra's cheeks flushed slightly at the question, but she held her ground. "It's a long story," she replied, her voice steady. "But I need to get back to the barracks. Could you please prepare the rations for me?" The soldier nodded, his eyes still lingering on her for a moment before he turned to prepare their breakfast.

He handed her a tray laden with steaming coffee, fresh pastries, and a plate of scrambled eggs. "Welcome to Veridiania Base," he said with a friendly smile. "Hope you're settling in well."

Lyra took the tray from him, her fingers brushing against his. She felt a jolt of electricity at the touch, a reminder of the raw power that existed beneath her makeshift attire. She nodded, her eyes meeting his briefly before she turned and made her way back towards the barracks.

As she walked, she could feel the weight of the tray in her hands, the steam from the coffee rising in tendrils around her. She took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of fresh bread and eggs, letting it ground her in the present moment.

The Wolfpack Barrack was quiet, most of the team still asleep at this early hour. She tiptoed past the other partitions, not wanting to disturb anyone. Captain James' partition was at the far end, and as she approached, she could see him still asleep on his bed, the sheets tangled around his waist. She paused for a moment, taking in the sight of him. His chest rose and fell with each breath, his dark hair slightly disheveled from sleep. She felt a strange flutter in her stomach, a mix of nerves and something else she couldn't quite identify. She shook her head slightly, pushing the thought away. She was here to deliver breakfast, nothing more.

She put down the tray on the table, then removed her sheet that wrapped around her, revealing her crop top and combat shorts once again. She took a deep breath and walked closer to the bed to wake up Captain James.

She didn't want to startle him, so she gently placed a hand on his shoulder and gave it a soft squeeze. "Sir," she whispered, "it's time to wake up."

Captain James stirred at her touch, his eyes fluttering open. He looked up at her, his gaze still groggy from sleep. "What time is it?" he asked, his voice gruff.

"It's 0530 hours, sir," Lyra replied, stepping back to give him some space. "I've brought our breakfast rations." Lyra's voice was steady and professional as she placed the tray on the small table beside Captain James' bed. The tray clattered softly as she set it down, the steam from the coffee rising in tendrils around it.

Lyra's eyes scanned the tray before she began to recite the menu.

"We have steaming coffee, fresh pastries—croissants and baguettes—and a plate of scrambled eggs," she said, her voice steady and professional. Captain James sat up on the bed, his eyes still groggy from sleep but his expression turning more alert as he listened to her.

"Sounds like a good start to the day," he murmured, his voice still thick with sleep. He reached out and took a croissant from the tray, breaking it in half and taking a bite.

"You know," he said between mouthfuls, "you should sit down. We might as well eat together." Lyra hesitated for a moment, her eyes flicking to the empty space beside him on the bed. She took a deep breath and sat down, her body tense as she adjusted her position. Captain James watched her, a small smile playing on his lips as he took another bite of his croissant.

"Relax, Bunny," he said, his voice low and soothing. "We're just having breakfast together." Lyra nodded, her eyes fixed on the tray in front of her as she picked up a pastry and took a bite. The flaky dough melted in her mouth, the sweet filling tangy and delicious. She took another bite, her body slowly relaxing as she ate.

Captain James reached out and took a sip of his coffee, his eyes never leaving her.

"You know," he began, his voice casual, "with your looks, you could go far as a model. Why choose to be a soldier?" He took another bite of his croissant, his gaze steady on her.

Lyra's eyes flickered up to meet his, her expression serious. "I didn't choose to be a soldier because of my looks, sir," she replied, her voice steady. "I chose to be a soldier because I want to make a difference. I want to protect people, to fight for what's right. And I won't let my appearance define me or limit my potential." She took another bite of her pastry, her eyes fixed on the tray in front of her.

Captain James nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Fair enough," he said, his voice approving. "But you must admit, it's an unusual choice for someone with your...

assets," he said, his voice laced with a hint of amusement.

Lyra's cheeks flushed slightly at his words, but she held her ground. "I'm here to serve my country, sir," she replied, her voice firm. "And I won't let anything distract me from that." Lyra's voice was firm, her eyes meeting Captain James' gaze without flinching. He nodded, a small smile playing on his lips as he took another sip of his coffee.

"Good," he said, his voice casual. "Because you have a role to play here, Bunny. Not just as the Wolfpack's recon, but also as... our little morale booster." He leaned back against the wall, his eyes never leaving hers. "You understand, don't you?"

Lyra's cheeks flushed slightly at his words, but she held his gaze. "Yes, sir," she replied, her voice steady. "I understand my duties."

"Excellent," Captain James said, his voice approving. "Because we need you to play both roles perfectly. It's your duty to serve your country, after all." He reached out and took another pastry from the tray, his eyes never leaving hers.

"But for now, let's get ready for the day. Finish up, and we'll head to the briefing room." Lyra nodded, picking up the last piece of croissant and taking a bite. She watched as Captain James stood up and stretched, the muscles in his back rippling beneath his skin. She quickly finished her breakfast, her mind already racing with the tasks ahead.

As she cleaned up the tray, Captain James stood up and stretched, his muscles rippling beneath his skin. "We'll have a briefing at 0800 in the barracks' briefing room," he said, his voice authoritative. "Get ready and meet me there." He paused, his eyes scanning her makeshift attire. "And take a shower. You'll need to be presentable for the team."

Lyra nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly at his words. She quickly gathered the tray and made her way to the communal showers, her mind already focused on the day ahead.

As she pushed open the door to the shower room, she widened her eyes in surprise. Aldere, Thomas, and Rashford were all there, fully naked and taking showers, their bodies glistening with water and soap. She froze for a moment, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment and surprise.

"Morning, Bunny," Aldere said, a smirk playing on his lips as he noticed her. "Care to join us?" He let out a low whistle, his eyes scanning her body appreciatively. Thomas and Rashford turned to look at her, their expressions ranging from surprise to amusement.

Lyra's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, her eyes darting from one to the other before settling on Aldere. "Good morning," she managed to stammer out, her voice barely above a whisper. She remembered Captain James' words, that she had to shower with her team mates as a sign of bonds, and took a deep breath to steady herself.

She slowly walked towards one of the shower heads, her eyes locked onto the tiles in front of her, acutely aware of the three pairs of eyes burning into her. She reached up to the hem of her crop top, her fingers brushing against her skin as she began to lift it off. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, her cheeks flushing with a mix of embarrassment and something else she couldn't quite identify. She paused for a moment, her top halfway up her stomach, before she took a deep breath and pulled it off completely, revealing her bare torso to the room. She quickly unbuttoned her combat shorts, pushing them down over her hips and stepping out of them, leaving her standing in nothing.

As she reached for the shower knob, she felt a sudden tug on her wrist. She looked up to see Aldere standing behind her, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Don't be shy," he said, his voice low and husky as he pulled her towards him. "We're all friends here." He led her to his shower head, Thomas and Rashford are on the right side of that shower head.

Lyra's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she realized she was now standing in front of all three of them, completely naked. She could feel their eyes on her, could see the appreciation in their gazes. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as Aldere turned on the water, the spray hitting her skin and making her shiver.

She could feel the heat of the water against her body, could see the steam rising around her. She closed her eyes, letting the water wash over her, trying to block out the presence of the three men around her.

She could feel their eyes on her, could hear their low murmurs as they went about their morning routine. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come.

Aldere, Thomas, and Rashford were all around her, their naked bodies glistening with water and soap. She took another deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.

"Gentlemen," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, "I'm new to this, so please bear with me." Her eyes darted from one to the other, her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment.

Thomas looked up and gave her a warm smile. "No need to be nervous, Bunny," he said, his voice gentle. "We're all just here to get clean." He turned off his shower and stepped out, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist. "I'll leave you to it," he said, giving her a small nod before exiting the room.

Lyra let out a sigh of relief as Thomas left, her eyes flicking to Aldere and Rashford. Aldere was still smirking at her, his eyes appreciative as they scanned her body.

"You know," he said, his voice low and husky, "you're not so bad yourself." He reached out and gently touched her shoulder, his fingers trailing down her arm. Lyra shivered at his touch, her breath hitching slightly in her throat.

Rashford, who had been quietly washing himself, looked up and gave her a small nod. "You're doing fine, Bunny," he said, his voice gruff but gentle. "Just relax and enjoy the moment." "I'll leave you two to it," he said, giving her a small smile before exiting the room.

Lyra let out another sigh of relief as Rashford left, her eyes flicking back to Aldere. He was still smirking at her, his eyes appreciative as they scanned her body.

She swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest as she realized she was now alone with Aldere in the shower room.

Few moments after Aldere left, leaving Lyra alone in the shower as she sighed in release now she can shower alone.

The steam from the hot water enveloped her, making her skin tingle with warmth. She closed her eyes, letting the water wash over her as she tried to clear her mind of the previous encounter.

She reached for the soap, lathering it up in her hands before gently scrubbing her body. Her thoughts drifted back to the Wolfpack team, to the mission they were about to embark on. She knew that this mission would be crucial, that it would test their skills and their resolve.

As she rinsed off the soap, she heard a soft knock at the door. She quickly turned off the water and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around herself as she opened the door to reveal Captain James standing there. His eyes scanned her body quickly before settling on her face.

"Everything alright?" he asked, his voice concerned. "You seemed a bit...

unsettled when you left with the breakfast tray," he finished, his brow furrowed slightly.

Lyra nodded, her cheeks still flushed from the shower. "Yes, sir," she said, her voice steady. "I'm fine now. Just needed a moment to... adjust." She paused, her eyes flicking to the floor before meeting his gaze again.

"I'm sorry, sir," she began, her voice steady but tinged with a hint of embarrassment. "I never shower with men before, let alone three at once." Captain James' eyebrows shot up in surprise, his expression softening slightly as he took in her discomfort. "I see," he said, his voice gentle. "Well, it's not something we do often, but it's part of our team bonding ritual. It's meant to help us relax and get to know each other better." He paused, his eyes scanning her face as if trying to gauge her reaction. "I understand it's not something you're used to," he said, his voice softening. "But it's important that you adapt to our ways. It's part of being a team." "I understand, sir." Lyra nodded, her voice steady despite the butterflies in her stomach. "I'll do my best to adapt." Captain James smiled, his eyes softening as he looked at her. "That's all I ask, Bunny." He paused, his gaze flicking to her towel-clad body. "You know, I could use a shower myself. Care to join me?" Lyra's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushing at the unexpected suggestion. She knew she had already showered, but she also knew that refusing Captain James' order was not an option. "Of course, sir," she said, her voice steady despite the nervous flutter in her stomach.

She took a deep breath and stepped back into the shower room, Captain James following close behind. The steam from the hot water enveloped them as they stood below the shower head next to each other.

Lyra removed her towel as she turned on the shower again, her eyes flicking to Captain James' fully naked body. She felt a jolt of surprise and something else she couldn't quite identify at the sight of him. He was lean and muscular, his skin glistening with water as he stood there, completely unashamed of his nudity.

Captain James looked at her, his eyes scanning her body quickly before settling on her face. "You're not used to this, are you?" he asked, his voice gentle but firm.

"No, sir," she admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I'm not."

He nodded, understanding in his eyes. "It's alright," he said, his voice soothing.

"You don't have to be nervous around me." He reached out and gently touched her arm, his fingers brushing against her skin. Lyra's eyes flicked to his hand, then back up to his face. She could see the callouses on his fingers, the roughened skin a testament to years of hard work and training.

She glanced at his body again, her eyes tracing the lines of his muscles, the scars that marred his skin. There were numerous scars, some long and thin, others jagged and uneven. Her mind swirled with the knowledge that Captain James had been through a lot in his army service. She could only imagine the battles he had fought, the dangers he had faced.

It was a stark reminder that behind every scar was a story of bravery and resilience. She realized then that being the Wolfpack Barrack's Bunny was nothing compared to the true strength and courage that Captain James embodied.

As she stood there, the steam from the shower enveloping them both, she felt a strange sensation in her stomach. It was a mix of fear and excitement, a feeling she had never experienced before. She had always been cautious around men, always keeping a safe distance. But here, with Captain James, she felt a strange pull, a desire to get closer.

She knew it was dangerous, knew that it went against everything she had been taught about maintaining professionalism and distance. Yet, there was something about him that made her want to break all the rules.

As she stood there, the water cascading over her body, she realized that being the Barrack's Bunny was not just about maintaining morale. It was about understanding her teammates on a deeper level, about connecting with them in a way that went beyond just being a soldier. It was about being there for them, not just as a comrade in arms, but as a friend, as someone they could trust and confide in.

She was lost in thought, her fingers tracing the lines of his scars, feeling the raised skin beneath her touch. Captain James noticed her distraction, his eyes flicking down to her hand before meeting her gaze again. She was shocked as she realized what she was doing, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She quickly pulled her hand away, her eyes darting to the floor.

"Sir," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I mean, I was just... thinking." She paused, her mind racing as she tried to find the right words. "I was just thinking about how much you've been through," she continued, her voice steadying as she looked back up at him. "About how strong you must be to have survived all of that." She gestured to his scars, her eyes filled with a mix of awe and admiration.

"These must have hurt," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't even imagine what you've been through."

Captain James chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he looked at her. "Ah, Bunny," he said, his voice warm and wise. "Every member of the Wolfpack has their own scars, their own stories of hardship. That's what makes us the special force we are. We've all been through the wringer, and it's made us stronger for it." He paused, his gaze turning serious as he looked at her. "But you don't need to worry about us. We're here to protect you, to make sure you're safe." He reached out and gently touched her cheek, his thumb brushing against her skin. "That's what we do, Bunny. We protect our own."

Lyra's heart fluttered at his touch, at the warmth in his voice.

She nodded, her eyes meeting his. "I understand," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

They finished showering, and towels wrapped each of their bodies as they walked to Captain James' partition to gear up for the briefing. The steam from the shower still clung to their skin, making their steps slightly hesitant as they navigated the communal showers' wet floor.
