Chapter 15: The Plume

The cool night air nipped at Breilla's skin, sending a shiver down her spine as she sat on the pitch ground, her legs tucked beneath her. The exhaustion from her earlier ordeal weighed heavily on her, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled over her like a shroud. She looked out at the vast expanse of the pitch, the moon casting long, dancing shadows across the ground.

Suddenly, she noticed something peculiar. The 1001 names she had inscribed onto the pitch began to glow softly, their letters pulsating with an otherworldly light.

Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed her arms and pulled her to the ground.

She tried to resist, but the grip was firm and unyielding. The hands were cold and clammy, their touch sending shivers down her spine. She looked around in panic, her eyes wide with fear as she realized that she was surrounded by a sea of grasping hands, all reaching out for her.

"Let go of me!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the empty pitch ground. The hands were relentless, their grip tightening as they pulled her down into the earth. She could feel herself being dragged deeper and deeper, the cold earth pressing against her skin as she struggled to free herself.

"What the hell is happening?" she cried out, her voice echoing through the darkness. The hands were unyielding, their grip tightening as they pulled her further into the earth. she screamed, her voice hoarse from exertion. "Please, someone help me!" But there was no response, only the cold, unyielding grasp of the hands that held her captive. She could feel herself beginning to panic, her heart pounding in her chest as she realized that she was completely at their mercy.

Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her leg, and she looked down to see that one of the hands had grabbed hold of her ankle, its fingers digging into her flesh. She tried to kick it off, but it was no use. The hand was like a vice, its grip unbreakable.

"Let go!" she screamed, her voice filled with desperation.

"I've freed you! Why won't you let me go?" Her voice echoed through the darkness, but there was no response, only the cold, unyielding grasp of the hands that held her captive.

Suddenly, she heard it - a chorus of voices, thousands strong, speaking in unison. "Thou thought to free them from their plight, but lo, they rise in vengeful spite. The chains undone, their wrath takes flight, and thou shalt face their endless night." The voices echoed around her, sending shivers down her spine. She then realized, she had been released - all 1001 souls who had been trapped in this realm for centuries, their vengeful manners towards her now materializing.

Breilla's heart pounded in her chest as she looked around, the once empty pitch ground now turned into sea of hands. She screamed, her voice echoing through the night, "What did I do? What did I do wrong in my life to deserve this? I just wanted to go home!" Tears streamed down her face as she struggled against the relentless grip of the hands, pulling her down into the earth.

Another pair of hands grabbed her shoulder, feet, and with a forceful tug, pulled her down further. She cried out, "Stop! Please, stop! I don't understand! I freed you! Why are you doing this?" Her voice was filled with desperation and confusion as she tried to make sense of the situation. The hands showed no mercy, their grip tightening as they dragged her deeper into the earth.

She felt herself being pulled down, her body submerged in a sea of grasping hands, each one cold and unyielding. She struggled to free herself, kicking and punching at the hands that held her captive, but it was no use. They were relentless, their grip unbreakable.

Breilla's lungs burned as she fought to keep her head above the surface of the hands. She could feel herself being pulled down further, the cold earth pressing against her skin as she struggled to free herself. Her heart pounded in her chest, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she realized that she was completely at their mercy.

The hands were relentless, their grip tightening as they pulled her down further into the earth. They were unyielding, their grip like iron bands around her wrists and ankles.

Suddenly, she felt a sharp tug at her wrists, and she looked down to see that one of the hands had grabbed hold of her cowgirl glove, its fingers digging into the leather as it began to pull it off. She tried to resist, but the hand was like a vice, its grip unbreakable. She cried out in frustration as she felt the glove being torn from her hand, leaving her wrist exposed and vulnerable.

"Stop!" "Please, just stop!" But the hands showed no mercy, their grip tightening as they began to remove her cowgirl boots next.

She could feel the rough, calloused fingers of one hand gripping the heel of her boot, pulling it off with a force that made her wince. The other hand was already working on the laces of her second boot, its fingers deftly undoing the knots as it prepared to remove it.

She tried to kick out, to fight back against the relentless hands that were stripping her of her clothing, but it was no use. They were everywhere, their cold, unyielding grip holding her firmly in place as they continued their relentless assault.

"Fuck!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the darkness as she felt the last of her boots being pulled off.

"Please, stop!

I beg of you!" Breilla cried out, her voice hoarse from screaming. She was on her knees now, her hands clasped together in a desperate plea. "I don't understand what I've done wrong! I just wanted to help you all and go home!" Her eyes darted around, searching for some sign of mercy among the sea of grasping hands that surrounded her.

The hands showed no mercy, their grip tightening as they began to pull her down further into the earth. She could feel the cold earth pressing against her skin, the rough texture sending shivers down her spine. She tried to dig her heels into the ground, to fight back against the relentless force that was pulling her down, but it was no use. The hands were like iron bands around her wrists and ankles, their grip unyielding.

"Please," she begged again, her voice filled with desperation. "Please, just let me go.

I don't understand what I've done wrong," Breilla begged, her voice barely above a whisper. But as she opened her mouth to speak again, a hand clamped over it, silencing her. She tried to scream, to bite down on the cold, unyielding fingers, but it was no use.

Her eyes widened in panic as she realized that she was completely at their mercy. She could feel the cold, clammy skin of the hand against her lips, the rough texture of its fingers pressing into her cheeks. She tried to struggle, to fight back against the relentless force that held her captive, but it was no use. The hands were everywhere, their grip tightening as they pulled her down further into the earth.

She could feel the heat now, the earth around her growing warmer as she was dragged deeper. Her heart pounded in her chest, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps as she struggled against the relentless force that held her captive. She could see nothing but hands, thousands of them, as she was drowned in them.

Her body started sweating profusely due to the heat emanating from the earth below. Her mouth was muffled by a cold, clammy hand that pressed against her lips, silencing her screams. She could feel the rough texture of the hand's fingers pressing into her cheeks, their grip unyielding. Panic surged through her veins as she realized that she was completely at their mercy.

Breilla's heart pounded in her chest as she struggled against the relentless force that held her captive. She could feel the heat growing more intense, the earth around her seeming to burn as she was dragged deeper and deeper. Her breath came in short, panicked gasps as she tried to fight back, but it was no use.

Suddenly, the relentless force pulling her down stopped. The sea of hands around her stilled, their grip unyielding but no longer dragging her deeper into the earth. She blinked, her eyes wide with fear and confusion as she looked around at the thousands of hands surrounding her, now motionless.

She could feel the heat of the earth around her, still intense but no longer increasing. The hands that had been pulling her down were now stationary, their cold, unyielding grip holding her firmly in place.

Suddenly, she could hear it - thousands of whispers, all saying the same thing in unison, "The Paralogue." The words echoed around her, sending shivers down her spine.

"What's the Paralogue?" she whispered, her voice barely audible over the chorus of whispers. The hands around her began to tremble, their grip tightening slightly as if in response to her question. She could feel the fear rising within her, her heart pounding in her chest as she realized that she was completely at their mercy.

The whispers grew louder, the word "Paralogue" echoing through the darkness like a mantra. She could feel the hands around her beginning to move again, not pulling her deeper but shifting, writhing as if in anticipation. She braced herself, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to prepare for what was to come.

Suddenly, the hands began to move profusely, like a thousand snakes uncoiling at once. She gasped, her eyes wide with fear as she watched the hands around her start to move, writhing and shifting in anticipation.
