Chapter 17: Denial in Denim
The walk-in closet was a deep, quiet cave at the end of the hallway, a repository of shared history and forgotten things. The air was still and faintly dusty, carrying the ghost of Tsunade’s lavender soap and the deeper, muskier scent of wool and old leather. A single bare bulb, its light hesitant and yellow, hung from the ceiling, casting long, wavering shadows over the piles of shoeboxes and half-empty suitcases. In the far corner, leaning against the wall, was a tall, freestanding mirror, its surface mottled with age.
Naruto stood before it, not looking at his own reflection, but listening. The speaker of his phone, balanced on a stack of sweaters, hummed with Sakura’s voice. She was on a break between surgeries, her tone warm but edged with the particular fatigue that clung to her after hours under the bright lights.
“...so then the attending just looked at the chart, sighed this huge sigh, and said, ‘Well, it’s not not an infection,’” she was saying, her laughter a soft, crackling ripple through the static. “Genius. Absolute genius.”
Naruto grinned, about to reply, when the closet door behind him groaned open on unoiled hinges, flooding the dim space with light from the hallway.
Sakura stood framed in the doorway, backlit, her form a vast, soft silhouette. She was breathing heavily, a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead. In her hands she held a deep emerald green dress, a favorite of hers from a few months back, a flowing wrap-style that used to drape elegantly over her curves.
“You will not believe this,” she huffed, stepping inside and letting the door swing mostly shut, leaving them in the ochre glow of the single bulb. “This dress. It’s like it shrank in the dark. I swear, Naruto.”
She held it up against herself. The dress, once generous, now looked decidedly small. Without another word, with a determined set to her jaw, she began to wriggle into it. She stepped into the skirt, which she pulled up over her hips. That alone was a struggle. The soft, plentiful flesh of her thighs, now thicker and heavier, rubbed together with a quiet, persistent whisper as she moved. She tugged the fabric past her knees, past the newly solid heft of her upper thighs, and over the immense, jiggling swell of her hips and rear. The material pulled taut, straining across the expansive, round shelf of her backside.
Then came the wrap. She pulled the two sides of the bodice across her front. The difference was immediately, breathtakingly apparent. Her breasts, always magnificent, had grown even more profoundly heavy and full, a deep, rolling weight that now threatened to spill over the top of any containment. The silky fabric of the dress was not up to the task. It barely covered the underswell of her breasts, the deep, shadowed valley between them a tight, stressed V of green. She took one side of the wrap and tried to pull it across to tie.
It wouldn’t reach.
She pulled, her face flushing with effort. The seams along the sides of the dress let out a thin, high-pitched whine of protest. The fabric dug deeply into the soft, thickened flesh of her waist, creating pronounced rolls that bulged over the tied sash. Her stomach, once a soft curve, was now a firm, pronounced dome that pressed insistently against the knot, rounding it outward. She sucked in her breath, her face turning redder.
“Come… on…” she grunted, giving another fierce tug.
A sharp rip sounded, clean and final. A six-inch seam beneath her arm had given way, revealing a flash of the pale, dimpled skin of her love handle. Sakura froze, staring at the tear in the mirror’s reflection. Her breath came in heavy pants, making her immense bust rise and fall dramatically, the strained fabric groaning with each movement.
From the doorway, now pushed fully open, came a low, melodic giggle.
Ino leaned against the doorframe, one hand resting on the soft, pronounced shelf of her own belly. She was wearing a pair of high-waisted trousers and a blouse that, while still elegant, was clearly feeling the strain. The buttons over her own generous chest were rigid, defined islands in a sea of stretched silk. A wide leather belt cinched her waist, or rather, attempted to define where her waist used to be; now it simply dug into the soft, abundant flesh of her midsection, creating a deep, squeezed roll above and a lush, overflowing curve below.
“Shrinkage, my ass,” Ino said, her voice rich with amusement. “Face it, Forehead. You’ve outgrown it.”
Sakura glared at her reflection, then at the tear. “It’s the dryer. Tsunade must have put it on a hot cycle or something.” Even her protest lacked its usual fiery conviction. It was a mumbled thing, a last defense against the obvious.
Ino merely smirked and waddled fully into the closet. Her movements were slower now, a sedate, rolling gait that spoke of increased weight and a body conserving energy. She went straight to a high shelf, her hand reaching behind a pile of folded scarves. She emerged with a half-eaten box of expensive chocolates, the gold foil glinting in the dull light.
“Whatever helps you sleep,” Ino said, popping a chocolate into her mouth whole. She chewed contentedly, leaning back against a stack of storage boxes, which creaked under her new, substantial weight. Her belly, soft and full, pressed against the fabric of her blouse, the curve unmistakable.
Naruto watched, his phone forgotten, Sakura’s voice a distant buzz. His heart hammered against his ribs. They were… more. So much more. Sakura, in her torn dress, was a vision of lush, undeniable abundance. The sheer volume of her, the way her body now filled spaces it previously only graced, sent a bolt of pure, hot devotion through him. And Ino, her confidence unshaken by the tight belt or the softness of her own jawline, was a queen of comfortable indulgence. The sight of them both, so utterly changed and yet so completely themselves, was almost too much to hold.
Sakura finally let out a long, defeated sigh, the sound ending in a soft, gurgling rumble deep within her gut. She didn’t seem to notice. She carefully, with a new, heavy grace, began to extricate herself from the ruined dress. The process was a slow, jiggling dance of abundant flesh, a mesmerizing shift of weight and curve. Finally free, she stood in her bra and panties, both straining at their seams, her body a breathtaking landscape of soft, heavy slopes and vast, gentle plains.
“Well,” she said, looking at the dress crumpled in her hands. “Guess I need a new one for that fundraiser next week.”
“We both do,” Ino said around another chocolate. She patted her belly affectionately. “Nothing in here fits this bad boy anymore.”
The casual admission, the affectionate pat—it was the first time either had openly acknowledged the change without blaming an external force. The air in the closet shifted, growing thicker, more intimate.
Naruto finally found his voice. “We can go tomorrow,” he said, his tone careful, neutral. “After work. My treat.”
Two pairs of eyes turned to him—Sakura’s green ones soft with gratitude, Ino’s blue ones sharp with knowing affection.
“Trying to dress us up, detective?” Ino purred, pushing herself off the boxes with a grunt and walking towards him. Her gait was a slow, hip-swaying roll. She stopped right in front of him, so close he could feel the heat radiating from her body, smell the chocolate on her breath mixed with her gardenia perfume. She reached out and placed a hand, soft and heavy, on his chest. “Or just enjoying the view?”
He looked down at her, at the soft fullness of her face, the way her neck had thickened, the magnificent swell of her breasts against her blouse. He looked over at Sakura, who was watching them with a tender, sleepy expression, her hands resting on the soft, wide swell of her hips.
He didn’t trust himself to speak. Instead, he leaned down and captured Ino’s mouth in a slow, deep kiss. It tasted of dark chocolate and a sweetness that was all her. She melted against him, her body a warm, heavy, and incredibly soft weight against his. He heard Sakura’s quiet footsteps, then felt her press against his back, her immense, pillowy breasts flattening against his shoulder blades, her arms wrapping around his waist from behind. She nestled her face between his shoulder blades with a contented sigh that vibrated through him.
They stood like that for a long moment in the dim, dusty closet, a tangled monument of soft flesh and silent understanding. The world outside, with its cases and its surgeries and its shrinking dresses, ceased to exist.
Finally, Ino pulled back, her lips swollen, her eyes dark. “You’re too good to us,” she whispered, and for once, there was no tease in her voice, only a raw, vulnerable truth.
Sakura squeezed him from behind. “He is,” she murmured into his back. “What did we do to deserve you?”
The question hung in the scented air. Naruto had no answer. He only knew, with a certainty that terrified him, that he would spend every day trying to be worthy of this—of their transformed, breathtaking bodies, of their trust, of this heavy, lazy, gas-filled, perfect love that had grown, quietly and irresistibly, in the heart of their home. He would feed it. He would cherish it. He would never let it go.
Ino’s stomach let out a long, low, liquid gurgle, a profound announcement of digestion. She didn’t flinch. She just giggled, a deep, bubbly sound that started in her throat and vibrated through her entire ample frame. “Someone’s hungry again,” she said, patting her belly.
“Someone always is,” Sakura replied, her own stomach echoing the sentiment with a softer, airy rumble.
Naruto smiled, a real, easy smile that reached his eyes. “I’ll start dinner,” he said.
“I’ll start dinner,” he said.
The kitchen became his sanctuary, the only place where the enormity of his secret devotion felt manageable. He poured it into rich broths, into mounds of seasoned rice, into sizzling pans of marbled pork that glistened with fat. He watched them eat. He saw Sakura’s careful, precise surgical hands now deftly wielding chopsticks to shovel impressive quantities of food into her mouth, her cheeks often bulging as she chewed thoughtfully, explaining a complex case between swallows. Ino ate with a languid, sensual pleasure, savoring each bite, her eyes often closing in bliss as the flavors hit her tongue, one hand resting on the great, warm swell of her stomach as it filled.
Their bodies responded to his cooking with a silent, profound hunger that seemed to have no bottom.
Clothes became a recurring, muted crisis. More dresses met the fate of the emerald one.Zippers failed. Buttons on Ino’s fashionable blouses began to vanish, popping off with faint ‘pings’ that they blamed on ‘shoddy manufacturing.’ They simply bought new things online, ordering larger sizes without comment, attributing the need to a ‘desire for more comfortable, flowing fabrics.’ When Sakura’s white doctor’s coat could no longer close over her chest, she simply wore it open, a stethoscope looped around her neck like a necklace, the vast, soft terrain of her bust stretching her scrub top underneath into a topography of folds and strains.
They became more sedentary, their lives narrowing to the well-worn paths between bed, couch, and table. Evenings once spent chatting while standing in the kitchen were now spent deeply ensconced in the reinforced sectional, their bodies forming gentle, sloping mountains under soft blankets. Their conversations were punctuated by the soft, constant symphony of their bodies: gurgles, groans, deep sighs, the shifting of tremendous weight on cushions. Naruto would bring them bowls of chips or mugs of sweet hot chocolate, and their hands, now softer and dimpled at the knuckles, would reach for them without their eyes leaving the television.
The scale of them shifted again, subtly, inevitably. He noticed it in the small things. The way Ino now had to turn slightly sideways to pass through the kitchen doorway, her hips brushing both sides of the frame with a soft, whispering drag. The way Sakura’s chair at the table creaked in a new, deeper tone, and how she would sometimes pause, mid-sentence, to catch her breath after the short walk from the couch to the refrigerator. Their faces had softened into a breathtaking, mature beauty, jaws now cushioned with plushness that made their smiles warmer, their eyes brighter in the soft, rounded frames of their cheeks.
The bed they shared had to be reinforced. The old frame groaned under the collective, magnificent tonnage. They slept tangled, a landscape of warmth and flesh. Naruto would often wake pinned, deliciously, under an immense, smooth thigh or with his face buried in the deep, fragrant valley between Sakura’s monumental breasts. Their snoring was a low, resonant orchestra of contentment.
One Saturday afternoon, the illusion faced its greatest test. Ino wanted to go to her favorite boutique. “I need something that doesn’t feel like a sack,” she declared, heaving herself up from the couch with a soft grunt. It was a process. She placed her palms flat on the cushions, pushed, gained momentum with a slight rock, and rose, her whole body—the tremendous bust, the vast belly, the colossal hips—swaying with the effort until she found her balance on thick, stocking-clad legs. Sakura, intrigued, decided to join.
The boutique was a place of soft lighting and delicate fabrics. The changing room was a different world. Naruto waited outside, hearing the murmur of their voices, the sharp, metallic protests of zippers.
“This is ridiculous,” Sakura’s voice, muffled, came through the curtain. “Everything is cut so small now.”
“Tell me about it,” Ino replied, her voice strained. “This silk is like tissue paper. It just… ripples.”
The manager, a slender woman with a measuring tape around her neck, approached Naruto with a polite, concerned smile. “Sir, I’m not sure we have anything in our current collection that would… accommodate your companions. Our largest size is a 24. Perhaps a specialty store…”
Naruto felt a cold spike of fear. This was it. The outside world was trying to name what he cherished, to categorize it as a problem. He saw the curtain rustle, then part.
Ino emerged first. She was trying on a stunning royal blue wrap dress, a style similar to Sakura’s ruined one. It did not wrap. It was merely draped around her, held closed by her fist at her side. The silk stretched taut over the ballooning curve of her belly, straining across the immense, round apples of her breasts. The hem, meant for mid-calf, now rode high on her massive, columnar thighs. She looked like a goddess squeezed into a mortal’s garment, bursting with life and power. She glanced at the manager, then at the mirror, and her flawless face lit up with a genuine, dazzling smile.
“Oh, it’s lovely!” she exclaimed, turning slightly. The dress groaned. “But you’re right, the cut is off. It’s just not made for a real woman’s body anymore. Everything is for sticks.” She said it with such casual, unshakeable conviction that the manager blinked, her professional demeanor faltering. “All this cheap fabric. See how it pulls?” She motioned to her hip, where a seam was visibly stressed. “It’s a shame.”
Sakura came out then, a simple black dress caught on her hips, unable to be pulled up any further. It created a taut band around the widest part of her figure, the fabric above and below puffing out. She looked at her reflection, her head tilted. She patted the soft, thick roll of flesh that swelled over the dress's band. “Hmm. The sizing is completely inconsistent. This is supposed to be the same size as that red one I bought last year.” She shrugged, a movement that caused her shoulders, now padded with soft flesh, to rise and fall. “Online shopping is just better. The clothes are made for real people.”
The manager simply nodded, speechless, as the two women, each well over four hundred pounds of lush, magnificent flesh, retreated into the changing room, lamenting the poor quality of modern fashion. They left empty-handed, complaining about the walk back to the car.
“My feet are killing me,” Sakura sighed, leaning heavily on Naruto’s arm as they walked slowly down the street, her body swaying with each ponderous step. “I think I need new shoes, too. My arches are just… collapsing.”
“Everything is falling apart,” Ino agreed from his other side, breathing deeply. She took his free arm. “Except your cooking. That’s the only reliable thing in this whole city.”
That night, after a meal of hearty beef stew and buttery rolls, they lay in bed, a tangle of overheated, sated flesh. The room was dark and quiet save for the rhythmic sound of their breathing. Sakura was on her back, one hand resting on the great, rounded hill of her belly. Ino was curled into Naruto’s side, her leg thrown heavily over his.
“That shop was a bust,” Ino murmured sleepily. “I think I’ll just order something flowier. Less constricting.”
“Good idea,” Sakura mumbled. Her stomach emitted a long, low, complicated series of gurgles, a profound internal shifting of the massive meal. She rubbed it absentmindedly.“Mm. That stew was incredible, Naruto.”
He kissed Ino’s forehead, his hand finding Sakura’s on the vast, warm plane of her stomach. He laced his fingers with hers. Their skin was soft, the bones beneath buried deep. The fear he’d felt at the boutique was gone, replaced by a solid, awe-filled certainty. They were in their own world, a world he nourished and guarded. They would never notice. They saw shoddy stitching, inconsistent sizing, cheap fabric, and unreliable shoes. They saw everything but the beautiful, heavy, breathless truth of their own bodies.
They were happy. They were loved. They were fed.
To Naruto, that was all that would ever matter.
