Chapter 4: The Heir's Demands

The cave’s silence was a different animal now. Before, it had been the quiet of concentration, of systems on standby. Now, it felt like the held breath of a cathedral after a bomb has failed to detonate. Bruce stood before the main console, his fingers hovering over a holographic schematic of Gotham’s water mains. He hadn’t absorbed a single line of data in three hours.

His body ached with a phantom fatigue, deeper than any physical bruise from patrol. It was in the marrow. Talia’s words, the yield of that harvest, echoed on a loop, drowning out the hum of the supercomputer.

He found himself walking, not toward the training mats or the armory, but to a recessed alcove near the old geothermal vents, a space once used for storing decommissioned equipment. He’d cleared it himself, in a fugue state of denial and compulsion, the night after her visit.

There, resting on a simple workbench under a drop light, sat the cradle.

It was carved from a single piece of dense, aged mahogany, its lines severe, modern, and uncompromising. No frills. No curlicues. It was less a piece of nursery furniture and more a fortified bassinet, something that wouldn’t have looked out of place next to the Batmobile. He’d sanded every surface to a smooth, weaponized gleam. He didn’t remember deciding to build it. His hands had just begun, as if operating on a protocol written in a language older than his mission.

He was tracing the perfectly jointed corner of it when the air pressure changed. He didn’t need to turn.

“Sentiment,” Talia’s voice floated from the shadows behind him, rich with amusement. “The most predictable flaw in the foundation of great men.”

He kept his hand on the wood. It was warm from the vent’s breath. “You’re trespassing.”

“Am I?” Her footsteps were inaudible, but he felt her presence like a shift in the magnetic field. She came to stand beside him, not looking at him, but at the cradle. She wore combat leathers, her hair tightly braided. She’d come ready for a war, and found him building furniture. “It seems I am visiting a monument to my own victory.”

“It’s just wood.”

“It’s a confession.” She reached out and ran a fingertip along the rail. “You built him a fortress. Because you know the world you’ve made is not safe for a child. You are already thinking like a father, Bruce. It’s written in your joinery.”

A cold anger, stale and useless, tightened in his chest. He finally looked at her. The green of her eyes was vivid even in the cave’s low light. “What do you want now? An ultrasound? A blood test?”

“I want you to stop lying to yourself.” Her gaze dropped from his face, down his torso, with a slow, deliberate carnality. “The body knows the truth. Let it speak.”

Her movement was too fluid to block—a graceful, decisive drop to her knees on the cold stone floor before him. Her hands went to his belt before he could grab her wrists. The leather hissed through the loops. The zpper of his pants was a loud tear in the quiet.

“Talia—” His voice was a warning, thick and mangled.

“Shhh.” She looked up at him, her expression one of fierce concentration, as if disarming a complex explosive. “Let the architecture go. Just for a moment.”

She freed him, his cock already hardening under her clinical gaze. She didn’t stroke him. She simply observed, her breath warm on his skin. Then, with no prelude, she took him into her mouth.

It was not an act of submission. It was an act of consumption. Her lips sealed around him with a punishing tightness, her tongue flattening against the throbbing vein underneath. A guttural sound, ripped from a place beneath his rage, escaped his throat. His hands came up, hovering awkwardly at his sides before clenching into fists.

She worked him with a ruthless, knowing efficiency, her head bobbing in a rhythm that was both methodical and obscene. The wet, hot suction was a vacuum pulling all coherent thought from his skull. He could only feel: the scrape of her teeth, the incredible softness of her palate, the back of her throat as she took him deeper.

She pulled off with a lewd, glossy pop. A string of saliva connected her lips to his tip. “You see?” she whispered, her voice hoarse. “Your body welcomes me. It remembers its purpose.”

Before he could answer, she swallowed him again, taking him deeper than he thought possible, her nose pressing into the coarse hair at his base. She held him there, in that impossibly tight, wet heat, and he felt her throat muscles flutter rhythmically around the head of his cock. A groan, raw and unbidden, tore from him. His hands finally moved, tangling in the intricate braid of her hair, not to guide her, but to anchor himself against the tidal pull of sensation.

She deep-throated him again, and again, each time staying down longer, until his thighs trembled and the cave swam in his vision. Just as he felt the precipice yawn open, a white-hot coil ready to snap, she pulled back entirely.

He gasped for air, staring down at her. She was flushed, her lips swollen and slick, her eyes shining with a dark triumph. She held his aching cock in one firm hand, leaning forward to whisper directly against the wet, sensitive tip, her words a hot, intimate breath.

“You will train him,” she said, each syllable a soft, searing promise. “You will love him.” She flicked her tongue, a quick, torturing cat-lick that made his hips jerk. “And you will worship me for giving him to you.”

Then she took him back into her mouth, and this time there was no controlled build-up. It was a raw, greedy claim. She fucked him with her mouth, slurping and sucking with a frantic, hungry noise, one hand cupping his balls, rolling them roughly in her palm. The obscene sounds echoed off the cave walls, a symphony of utter degradation and boundless power.

His grip on her hair tightened. He was losing himself, the carefully constructed pillars of his control crumbling into slurry. He tried to hold back, but she redoubled her efforts, humming around him, the vibration traveling straight up his spine. The image of the cradle, right there in his peripheral vision, tipped him over the edge.

He came with a choked, ragged cry, pulsing violently down her throat. She took every drop, swallowing relentlessly, until he was empty, spent, and shaking.

She released him slowly, meticulously cleaning him with her tongue before tucking him away and fastening his pants with the same efficiency with which she’d opened them. She rose to her feet, not a hint of stiffness in her motion, and smoothed her braid. She looked at the cradle, then at his shattered expression.

“The wood is good. Strong.” She nodded, as if approving a tactical report. “But he will need more than a fortress. He will need a king.”

She turned and walked into the shadows, her form dissolving into the darkness of the tunnel from which she’d come. “I will send coordinates. You will come. We will begin.”

Bruce stood alone, the taste of copper and shame in his mouth. The scent of sex and mahogany hung in the damp air. Below him, on the stone floor between his feet, a single, glistening drop of her saliva reflected the dull red light of the bat-emblem. He stared at the cradle, his creation, a monument to a future he had already, irrevocably, accepted.

He had not knelt. But he had fallen.
